Why we stock it

This solves a specific problem and nothing else. If you feed boneless meat — home-cooked or a boneless raw mix — the diet is short of calcium, and the ratio of calcium to phosphorus matters as much as the amount. Ground bone fills that gap in whole-food form. It is also the one product here where getting the quantity wrong has consequences, particularly for a growing puppy, so it is worth asking your vet rather than estimating.

What it is

Pure dehydrated bone, processed into a fine, consistent meal. No preservatives and no synthetic minerals added. Available in Medium and Large sizes.

Ingredients

Bone (dehydrated).

No preservatives, no additives, no synthetic minerals.

Feeding and use

Pets Elite suggest roughly one teaspoon per 250g of boneless raw meat as a starting guide. Calcium requirements vary considerably by age, size and whether a dog is growing, pregnant or nursing, so confirm the amount with your vet before you rely on it. Fresh water at all times.

Suited to

  • Home-prepared and boneless raw diets
  • Raw feeders balancing their own mixes
  • Diets built around muscle meat and organ with no bone content

Not suited to

  • Dogs on a complete commercial food — that is already balanced
  • Growing puppies, without veterinary guidance on the quantity
  • Dogs with kidney disease or on a calcium-restricted diet

Safety

Calcium and phosphorus are easy to get wrong, and the consequences of over- or under-supplementing fall hardest on growing puppies and dogs with kidney disease. Confirm the quantity with your vet rather than working from a general guide.
