Why we stock it
Most "rawhide" on the South African market is cattle hide put through a chemical process — lime, bleach, sometimes hydrogen peroxide — to get it white and uniform. This is pork rind, which is food in its own right, dried without any of that. The honest caveat is the smell: it has a strong natural aroma that some households find off-putting. If that matters to you, the Beef Plait is a cleaner smelling alternative at a similar chew level.
What it is
Real pork rind, shaped into a classic bone form and dried. Large is about 19cm, Medium about 15cm. Rates 3 to 4 on the Pets Elite chewyness scale, where 1 is very soft and 5 is very hard. Every piece varies in size, colour and shape because it comes off a different animal — that is what an unbleached product looks like. Sold by unit rather than by weight.
Ingredients
Pork (rind/skin), vinegar.
Vinegar is used during dehydration as a natural preservative. No grain, no added salt or sugar, no colourants or flavourants.
Feeding and use
Give under supervision, with fresh water alongside. Take it away once it is small enough to swallow whole. Chews and treats should stay under about 10% of what your dog eats in a day.

- Dogs who work steadily at a chew rather than demolishing it

- Dogs on a beef-free diet
